Riddle me this

Post by Mark_Reed »

I suppose this could go under Pyro chronicles FAQ, but oh well.

A good while back, a bunch of sorcerers escorted the dwarves to a new world. Wouldn't there be some true believers of the Goddess among those sorcerers?

And if there were true believers of the Goddess in Pyronesia, wouldn't Niami become a younger god on that world?

Would if the laws of Sennadar was the same as Pyroasia.

Maybe Pyroasia doesn't support younger gods?  Or maybe the one has snubbed out all the younger gods already?  And only has enough power to keep the elder gods away?  I don't know, I just like speculating.

It was said somewhere that the Elder Gods of Sennadar weren't allowed to leave Sennadar, because of their power.  It was either that, or no Elder gods are able to leave thier home plane.

Consider if Ahyria (never can spell her name right, Elder of Fire) were to become a Younger God in Pyrosia or somewhere else.  Split attention between realms would mean the power of Fire in Sennadar would become dangerously unstable, without her there to keep control.
Ignorance is bliss, knowledge is power. Are the powerful very unhappy?

What could have happened is a god like Niami could be a younger god in Pyrosia, called Niami and be what the sorcerers thought Niami was but in a younger god Pyrosia context. She could be the welcoming god.

Because of who they are and the kind of power they possess, the Elder Gods of Sennadar cannot extend their power beyond the dimension of Sennadar.  This is a prohibition set forth by the God of Gods, because the Elder Gods of Sennadar have power FAR beyond the Elder Gods of other dimensions...this is because of the unique nature of Sennadar itself.

Niami is not the strongest of the Elder Gods; actually, she's one of the weakest of them in terms of raw power.  But her power is far beyond even the creator god of another dimension, that first god that the God of Gods sets in a newly created universe and directs to do as he or she wills.

Sennadar lies close to the Core, where the God of Gods exists (or doesn't exist, depending on the philosopher you're talking to), and because of that the power of magic is much greater there than in most other universes.  That proximity makes the gods stronger, who turned around and made the world stronger.  Everything about Sennadar is bigger, stronger, faster than other universes.  From the Were-cats, Selani, and Vendari to the Sorcerers, be it warriors or users of magic, the beings of Sennadar are a step above most others...though there are many exceptions, such as the samurai Tsukatta.

The Elder Gods of Sennadar are much stronger than gods of their kind in other universes, but their power can never leave their home dimension.  That's the price that they pay for it.

Niami or Ahiriya couldn't be gods on another world, because they're forbidden to do so.  But a god that came from another world could be a god on Sennadar...indeed, one already has.  He's the patron of the Wizards, the god Azur.  Clangeddin is also an outside god, imported to Sennadar from beyond some ten thousand years ago.

A Younger God of Sennadar could become a god on another world.  They don't have the same restrictions as the Elder Gods, but no Younger God on Sennadar outside Azur and Clangeddin have worshippers in other universes.  This is because the Blood War caused the gates to be sealed, and those few who left Sennadar and became trapped in other dimensions died before they established any lasting worship in those other worlds.

That's why Miranda has access to her Priest magic.  Her being an Avatar gives her her full power on Pyrosia without established worship of her goddess, but the fact that Kikkalli is a Younger God is the reason she can cast any spells at all.
Just another guy from the shallow end of the gene pool.
