Spoon of Doom vs Spoon of Turning

Post by J-Man5 »

I was wondering if there was a relationship between the Kender Spoon of Turning in the DragonLance novels and MommyDoom's Spoon of Doom.

Which one is more powerful?

What other eating implements can you think of that would make wonderful weapons for Tarrin?

Could Tarrin Summon or Create either a Spoon of Doom or Spoon of Turning and use it as his Divine Weapon?

He could really spank his enemies then!!!!!

Patricia C. Wrede, in her Book of Enchantments, has the Frying Pan of Doom. It turns people into poached eggs. *grins*

Tarrin does not need a (cooking impliment here) of turning. Tarrin is scary enough that most demons run away scared shitless as soon as they feel the guy's magical aura or whatever you want to call it. The only things that attack Tarrin now have been commanded or compelled to do so.

If anything, some smarta** sennadite should paint a tiny portrait of Tarrin (in fully scare-mode) onto a large piece of jewelery and use *that* to turn demons. Well, it's an amusing thought anyway.

Ok. So What is the technical description of Tarrin's condition?  I thought it would be defined as Lycanthromorphism even tough that specifically applies to Were-Wolves.  I know the overall condition is called Were or one is said to be Were but shouldn't there be a medical/magical descriptor for the condition as a whole?

Well... according to Wikipedia, Lycanthropy is:
In folklore, Lycanthropy is the ability or power of a human being to undergo transformation into an animal. The term comes from ancient Greek lykanthropos: lykos ("wolf") + anthropos ("man").
and further on:
Although the term lycanthropy properly speaking refers to metamorphosis into a wolf (see Werewolf), it is in practice used of transformation into any animal. The Greeks also spoke of kynanthropy (Kynior, dog) ; in India and the Asian islands the tiger is the commonest form, in North Europe the bear (see berserker), in Japan the fox, in Africa the leopard or hyena,....

You know, it's rather embarassing, but:

1.  I remember the DragonLance books
2.  I remember Tasselhoff

but I have no memory whatsoever of a Spoon of Turning.  I must be getting old.  34 and decrepit.  What did this Spoon do?

p.s. you ain't old I'm 33.  So I hope 34 isn't considered old yet.  It's got to be at least 36 or something!!!

not quite demons but it was supposed to turn ghosts away from the wielder but only the kender and gully dwarfs believed it because the gully dwarfs believed everything Tasselhoff said.
