Good News!

Post by Fel »

My surgery is back on the schedule. They had a surgeon from another VA hospital come to the one I use for a couple of months, one qualified to do the surgery. They're still not authorizing anything outside, so I got damn lucky they brought in another surgeon from another VA hospital.

I'm scheduled for June 2. I'll be in a walking cast for a couple of weeks, but it shouldn't otherwise interfere with my life outside of not being able to drive using it. After the walking cast, I'll be in an ankle brace for a couple of months to minimize the chance I overextend the tendon and tear it before it fully heals.

Luckily the surgery itself is supposed to be simple. They're just gonna go in and take out the piece of calcified spur, which is like a bone shard. The surgeon said during consult yesterday that the spur is in a good place to get at it with minimal damage to the surrounding tendon.

So, soon, SOON, this nightmare will be over.

That's the plan.

Once I'm off the pain meds, I'm gonna get back to writing big time. I've been too zonked out to really concentrate or plan, or even think much, and I've lost like nearly a year to this.

I feel so behind.

Dude, you've been writing for, what, decades at this point? Holy shit, has it been that long?

The fact that you still exist and haven't vanished into the web ether on us is amazing. Take care of your health too.

As Lochar said, we're just glad for what you've already written and that you're still around; don't stress about more writing until you feel up to it. Pretty sure you only get one life so live it as you want to, not at the behest of others - even us readers :). Hope the surgery goes well and heals quickly.

Really good news that it is finally being sorted.

As they've all said above, focus on getting better and we'll be here to critique your grammar and spelling whenever you are ready to write again

But seriously, look after you and your family first. The rest of life comes secondary including us.
