"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. "

James Rigney aka Robert Jordan, author of the widely read "Wheel of Time" series, died on September 16th, 2007 after a long battle with cardiac amyloidosis. Jordan was diagnosed with the disease in March 2006. He was in the process of completing the twelfth and final book in the Wheel of Time series ("A Memory of Light") when he passed away.

I would recommend all those who would like more information to go to http://www.dragonmount.com and go to the official blog section.

RIP Robert Jordan you will be sorely missed.

May the winds ever be at your back, and the water that touches your lips be sweet.

To bad he passed away he was an amazing author and the finale to the series would have been phenomenal. May he rest in peace, cause cancer is one hell of a horrible illness. :(

Indeed a sad day... Are there any plans for someone to finish the last Wheel of Time book? I know I've been anxiously awaiting it, and I know I'm not alone.

R.I.P Sad indeed, I was checking for any news of WOT 12 just a couple of days ago.

I think he intended to finish it himself, since he has been getting better for the last 3-4 month, but from what I read when, he got sick the plan was for his wife to finish the book.

Well, this may or may not deserve a new thread, so I'll post it here.

Robert Jordan's widow, Harriet, has picked an author for the final book.
http://www.dragonmount.com/News/?p=326
Tor Books announced today that novelist Brandon Sanderson has been chosen to finish the final novel in Robert Jordan’s bestselling Wheel of Time fantasy series.
Sanderson has since gone on to establish a loyal fan base as the author of three critically acclaimed fantasy novels: Elantris, Mistborn, and The Well of Ascension, as well as a YA novel, Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians. Publishing trade magazines Publishers Weekly and Library Journal gave Elantris starred reviews and it was the winner of the Romantic Times Award for best epic fantasy. The Washington Post also praised Sanderson for his creation of “a fascinating world” in Mistborn.
I think he'll do it justice.

I'd just be happy if he *finished* it.
