Sennadar.com Upgrades (2006/2007)

Well when I have free time i can try and make sennadar wiki a little more steam lined. Can't promise to mcuh i am still pretty much a newbie to the wiki format. As of right now all I have gotten done is change the main page so it has subjugation on there. I think it is big enough to be up front and then tried to clean up the linking to the Subjugation and few other pages about dragon star and alpha project. If there is some brilliant idea that you have that you think i should do, tell me and i will try to see what i can do about it. I think mostly I am going to be adding a lot of just random pages like some of jasons inventions and some stuff about Karis.

Well here's what you could do if you like it. It's a bit flashier than the standard one. I don't really like it, I think a fantasy website must have a really fancy design , but for shear usability this is workable. With some CSS work it could be rather light.

I've started on creating some "Infobox" templates for the Wiki - basicly they offer a quick summary of the vital details on whatever you're looking at.

Just for the Subjugation stuff, I'd like to get one set up for each of:
- the various faey technologies (Plasma-based energy we know about, medical advances),
- the faey ships/vehicles,
- weapons,
- characters
- Noble houses
- Species
- Planets
- Empires / Civilisations

I'd like to do the same for the Sennadar ones too.

As a starting point, and bit of example of where I'd like to go - I've set up an Infobox for Subjugation Characters - it displays:
- Character Name
- Any Aliases (if known)
- When and Where Born
- When and Where Died (if known and dead)
- Noble House, and position within that house (if a member of a noble house)
- Spouse/Partner (if married/attached)
- Parents (if known)
- Children (if any/known)

Probably should also add to that
- when and where married, if known.
- Occupation or Speciality (eg: Inventor, Marine, etc)


It required a whole stack of stuffing around, installing extensions, and figuring out the coding required to make the conditional bits in the template work.

I've also started in on detailing Jason's profile and background.
It's detailed - very detailed, maybe too detailed?
And if you haven't read up to the latest chapters of Subjugation - it's going to spoil it for you. There are spoiler warnings at the top of the page though.

Of course - Jason's character is going to be one of the most involved, since the story is almost entirely told from his perspective.

I've basicly spent my entire 6 hours since getting home, setting this up, and writing an example post - It's now midnight (exactly) - off to grab dinner!

Since noone else seems particularly keen -- I've started work on creating a all-in-one converter.

It'll be a custom app (.NET 2), but utilising Office 2007 as the backend for the actual document conversion, then doing cleanup and applying formatting.

See... this is what happens when noone else comes up with a better solution.

Sennadar Logos
I'd really like four logos, all (probably) based on the Sharem.
- A logo for the main http://www.sennadar.com, to fit in with the chosen theme.
- A favicon for all the sennadar.com domains.
- A Forum logo to replace the current "Sennadar Forums" logo
- A Wiki logo to replace the current "Sennadar Wiki" logo

1) We don't have a logo for Sennadar.com (yeah, we've got a giant Shaeram up there right now, but what about for the new version of the site wouldn't exactly fit in.)

2) All the logos (Sennadar.com, Sennadar Forums, Sennadar Wiki, and the Favicon for all of the above) look different, have different themes/styles/etc.


Do we really need it? No. But I'd like it...
