Terrin a mortal and yet a god

Post by Javna »

Im rereading from the first book and I got to thinking.
In bane ch 8 Tarrin is turn mortal but his shadow is still part god, he was demi-god when he made the living shadow. So if tarrin give his shadow his sword when it is fixed will his shadow become a god or demi-god aginie or will he and his shadow merge to one entety??? It would be cool if his twin would become a god. 8)
There's a fine line between genius and madness.
Me I crossed the line long ago

His shadow is neither here nor there, it's a creation of magic (of the divine kind) imbued with certain powers for a certain task. It is completely independant in this regard, and will stop to exist once it's purpose is fulfilled. All it now shares with Tarrin is a... kinship, if you so will, to a part of it's creator; Tarrin (in his now once again mortal ways) can't control it in any way, he merely could ask.

His sword was at the time of it's breaking a storage, or link to a storage, for his divine powers. It was also a creation of divine magic, as such it gained the artifact status. When Tarrin broke it, he broke that storage, or link to, his divine powers, nullifying that part of the weapon.
With the annihilation of Tarrins divinity, everything that was directly dependant on those powers has stopped working, and will never be able to work again in the same fashion.

And while it still is incredibly powerful in it's own right, it's not able to ascend something into divine simply because it's an artifact. No artifact can do that.

it would be very counter productive from Tarrin's standpoint. firstly he's become a true mortal. he gave up the part that gave him any divinity. his divine god soul. he seperated what was divine and what was mortal.

now take into account that as a werecat he's already somewhat immortal. true he can be killed but that is true of all beings as Tarrin proved when he was in the crossroads when he was the Mortal God. Tarrin through the worship from Dolanna was able to give himself special divine abilities.

but he gave up being a half god so he could command the firestaff. because the book, he read that Mother Wrinn gave him, let him know of the special skill or ability he'd be granted once he was no longer a child of the firestaff. he said that only a being who was made a god by the firestaff but rejected the power of the firestaff could then command the firestaff to do his (or her) bidding.

(breakdown -- mortal to god via the firestaff (now a child of the firestaff), god then becomes mortal with god's soul (still child of the firestaff), mortal rejects the 'godly' portion of his soul (no longer a child of the firestaff), mortal is now mortal with no godly ability but can command the firestaff)

pretty sure that helps
