What is the Beyond? Is it in reality another type of plane just one that inhospitiable to any form than the deva?

I'm wondering if Tarrin's entropic capabilties will cause him to be able to expand the multiverse thus merging an the planes or something like that.

Thraxi said it best,
“To reach into a place that does not exist and expect it not to leave its mark on you is foolish,” he said sagely.
The Beyond is a place that doesn't technically exist, which is why the Deva were pretty much immortal. Hard to kill someone permanently when you have to go somewhere that literally doesn't exist.

Tarrin's cheating by using the physcial existance of the Deva to break into the place that doesn't exist, by using a gateway that does exist.

So now that Tarrin has used a deva's substance as a gateway to somewhere that doesn't exist doesn't that make it exist. Kinda like using pocket universes. Until they're breached they might as well not exist. Tarrin almost has the beginnings of a bridge/gateway with a deva's soul amulet. Which is something that should not belong in the multiverse. There should be some sort of link between the two.

Since you want to know so bad:

Beyond is the inside of the Core at the center of Crossroads. It is a place that does not exist...yet it does. There is no way into the Beyond, into that place, and I mean NO WAY. Since it is completely inaccessible, as far as the multiverse goes, it is a place that does not exist.

And yet it does. And one CAN get into it...if one knows how.

For aesthetic purposes, we'll simply call it the Beyond and leave it at that.

It's where the God of Gods exists, in a place beyond even divine comprehension, and in a place that absolutely nobody can reach. Not even the Deva can enter and leave the Beyond. They must build constructs and join their minds to them. The Deva are much like Elementals in Sennadar, a shell animated by a sentient force that exists somewhere else. When they want to "return" to the Beyond, they simply discorporate that shell and withdraw their minds.

There is ONLY ONE exception to this rule, outside the GoG Himself, and that is a Solar. A Solar CAN physically enter and leave the Beyond, and this is only because the GoG wishes it so. They do so by His suffrance.

Lochar pegged it completely: he is using the material form of a Deva and the link between body and soul to reach through and into the Beyond. Just as he used the link between Jegojah and his Soultrap, he is using the Deva. When Tarrin rammed his paw through the chest of that Deva, he used the link between shell and soul as a gateway into that place that does not exist.

If you haven't noticed, when Tarrin finds something that works, he tends to use it repeatedly, until it is no longer effective. It's an aspect of his Cat-influenced mind, sticking with what works and going with it until it doesn't. This isn't just me being lazy (though it does make writing a bit easier...hehehe), this is Tarrin being Tarrin. He's done something like this before, it worked, so he'll use it again.

Hmm, Do I sense Tarrin allowing himself to be pulled in at some point, for one of his insane plans?

Does that mean Tarrin will actually end up fighting the true form of a Solar when he goes for that item he requires? That's going to be a hell of a fight, regardless of what plans Tarrin has.

I'm good.

I see the next incarnation of Tarrin as the Entropic Mi'Sharic Mortal Solar with a bit of demon thrown in.

Because as seductive as the two "sides" are I see Tarrin always working for the "Right" rather than the "Wrong."

Tarrin doesn't usually have a problem working for a God or Goddess he actually respects. If the GoG can show Tarrin a reason why he should be a Solar he might just do it. And Were-Cat mentality would cause him to submit to the GoG as there is no one more powerful.

He could be "detached" from regular service to the GoG much like he is towards the Knights of Karas.

So should we guess that maybe the item Tarrin needs from the Solar will allow him to physically enter the Beyond? I do remember a mention somewhere on this forum that Tarrin gets to meet the GoG albeit very briefly at some point.

No, I think what Fel said that Tarrin had already met the GoG, briefly, and he didn't know it.

I'm still convinced that Mother Wynn is either the GoG, or a direct agent. I have no proof, and so it remains conjecture, but that's what I think.

I agree. Sorcerers have power. Tarrin has Power. Gods have POWER. Mother Wynn apparently has *P*O*W*E*R*. After Mother Wynn's assistant "loaned" Tarrin the Blood War book Mother Wynn used her *P*O*W*E*R*.
from end of Demon's Bane 3 wrote: If the girl replied to that, no one knew, for she was gone. As was Mother Wynn.

As well as the porch, and the house to which it had been attached, and the very memory that they had ever been there at all. They had all vanished, leaving nothing but a narrow street behind, and not one soul within Crossroads except Tarrin Kael had any memory that the house, the girl, or Mother Wynn had ever existed.
Mother Wynn was able to erase the memory of her visit to Crossroads from EVERYONE in Crossroads. Deva, demon, mortal, god .... everyone simply forgot when Mother Wynn left. I think that indicates Mother Wynn being the GoG or at least his high priestess, daughter, etc.

Add that to the fact that the GoG would be able to assume any form he desired... I think Niami talked about it some time that the GoG was pleased with the Elder Sennadar gods about their solution to Val, but Niami said "He" was pleased. But I still think it's Mother Wynn. Who else would've known about Tarrin's abilities, and how to counter the problems with them?
