Kind of a weird question

Post by Fiferguy »

I have a couple questions for everyone.  I'm working on writing a book right now, though I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as Fel's books.  However, I was wondering:

Does anyone know of a good place to host my book?  EWP and SOL, two of the sites that I frequent, don't look that good.  EWP is about to change ownership, and I don't like SOL all that much.  So any ideas?

Also, would anyone be willing to edit for me?  It's one thing to read and correct one's work, but I'm looking for an unbiased person to look through it and tell me what they think.

Thanks,
Fiferguy

Depending on the genre of the work (it must be scifi/fantasy/horror), you may want to give Critters a try.

http://www.critters.org

They're a group that exists specifically to do crits of short stories and novels, and the participation requirements in order to get your own stuff up there means you'll get at least a few good-length comments on whatever you post. I was an active member for a while (now on hiatus due to real life stuff), and it helped me out a lot.

ASSTR is largely unorganized; it basically provides you with web space and bandwidth I think. And it was originally alt.sex.stories Usenet group Text Repository (archive).

Literotica has some limits on erotic plots (age of consent for example), and I have heard that the editors might be quite abrasive. Many people from Literotica did apeared on SOL.

You can always try FictionPress.Com or ELFWOOD - both not that good organized.

And in this moment..I will not run

Thanks for the advice guys.  I think I might end up just hosting it myself on my server box that I'm rebuilding right now.  I really didn't want to open my box up to the public, but I guess I will.

ASSTR, ASSM, etc. would be great, but this isn't exactly an erotic story.  I might write one eventually, but for right now I'm sticking to just plain fiction.

I would like to thank Wildcat for http://www.critters.org.  That looks like something that will definately help me.

Thanks again,
Fifer
