I've started on Revelation, but my laptop is acting up again. The overheating problem is back.

So my progress is going to be somewhat slow until either the fan starts working again or I take it in to have it fixed.

do you have a cooling base for it? My laptop will always overheat without it. They are not very expensive and they do help. Also if you know someone who is good with PCs, get some help doing a cleanup and re-add the processor thermal paste. That should help.

If it's a cooling problem, try using a vacuum cleaner on the vents, while covering some (not all) of the others with your hands. I did that on my son's laptop, and it helped immensely.

As to your laptop, a cooling pad works wonders. The ones I use under my machines are from Deep Cool, and have proven very effective.

Try blowing out the vents on the case with some canned air as well. Do NOT use a vacuum cleaner on a computer though, as vacuuming creates a large static build up that could discharge into the electronics inside the case. (Speaking from first hand experience ... )
