Hiya Fel :)

Was just browsing the web, and came across this, figured you might be interested:

http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/sell/books.aspx

Lets you do on-demand printing of books for a per-page price. Looks pretty cool if you ask me.

Looks good. Now all we have to do is interest Fel... I think he's gotten the idea that his books aren't good enough to sell somewhere...

Just be careful and read the fine print -- from memory there are some copyright issues associated with using Cafepress (aside from their pricing).

Edit:

Ah, yes... this is the bit that I was looking for...

Ok, maybe it's not so good after all...

I personally don't think Fel should use any of the vanity printing places. The best option I think is finding a publisher who wants to publish his books but we've seen how Fel seems to have a complex about doing that. :p

but: do i get that right that..
If you or CafePress.com terminate your account, CafePress.com will cease its use of your Member Content as soon as reasonably practical.
you could use the account, have your number of prints done, delete the account  and in this fashion avoid cafepress.com to make use of their "rights"?
or do i misunderstand that? (legal was never a strength of mine, even less than is legal german...)

remains to be clarified how long "reasonably practical" is...

A number of authors are now releasing their books both in a physical book form and online under a Creative Commons license.

http://www.creativecommons.org

Interestingly, from what I've read, the authors who release their work under CC on the net seem to find that their physical books sell much better. Personally sometimes I wish I could relax in my recliner with Sword of Fire in hand.

Careful you don't cut yourself. I understand its rather sharp.  ;)

I relax on the lounge, on the back veranda, in the park, on the train, etc with around 90 books, 40 high quality photos, 10 high-quality mp3 albums, and a short film on hand. Lasts all day, and a good portion of the night too. Handheld PCs are great :)

Ah, I knew they existed, but hadn't actually heard of one.  I'd heard of some outfits that you practicly loose your copyright to them, and it becomes their material to do what they like with.  I'm glad someone saw the fine print on that one.

I can't take the credit for it, really. It came from a news posting on an online comic(Player vs Player if I'm not mistaken) a while back.  I believe it arose because the author wanted to get some shirts printed up for the comic, but there was a bit of a mess over the copyright issues.
