Old topics marked as [NEW]

I don't know what mechanism uses YaBB for keeping track which topics have unread posts in them, but it seems that it has short memory. After I while (a month I think) I can see old, inactive threads (which can be not so easily seen by comparng the date of last update to current date) to get

flag in front of them. I don't know if there is any that can be done, beside changing the forum engine, but if there is, please do correct it.

Not sure what caused it, try hitting the 'Mark Topics as Read' button at the bottom of the page.
Oh, and I'm happy for the engine to change... if someone else is willing to do the legwork to port all the content and users over to the new engine.

I thought you'd post about this again, i've been noticing "NEW" beside a bunch of posts recently.
I have a feeling that it goes from the oldest read post...
That is, there's some sort of 'buffer' , which stores which posts you've read. When that buffer gets too big (or when 30 days passes), the board trims it down.
There's a form on the main page of the board admin section, that reads "Delete all posts older than [x] days", with a default value of 30.
Thus i think that the board was designed to probably not hold much more than 30 days worth of posts...
Anyone feel like digging up/making a YaBB to PHPbb converter?
