Ooh, I'm the first to post the spoilers page *takes a moment to feel the awesomeness :p *. Anyway, now that thats out of my system. Chapter 19.

Interesting, most interesting. I think Kyven should be able to subvert the doors on the 6th level now that he is aware of them. As he is finding illusions are great things. Should be fun seeing how he subverts every other device he comes across though . I wonder what the floor plate does? Detect magic? Detect intent? The later could be funny though, as Kyven is finding .

It will be interesting to find out how much Shario uncovers. Who knows, he may even be able to penetrate into/already have links within the masked. It would be funny if he was one of the unknown masked peoples already.

Anyway, discuss.

That was a real James Bond type of chapter.

What could be very fun would be Kyven giving false orders to the Loreguard. He pretends to be a page, takes a blank sheet of paper, casts an illuisonary order on it from a Loremaster, gives it to the Loreguard and walks off with the confirmation. When the Loremasters go back and ask "WTF you think you are doing!" all they would find is a blank sheet of paper.

Way to obvious, the first thing they would think of are the shaman. Information gathering is the primary goal of Kyven's mission. If Kyven does anything he will attempt to make it inconspicuous. Maybe illusionary doctoring of orders that way it looks like someone got them wrong.
I think Kyven is under estimating Shario's resources. He has a different focus than the Loremasters. The Loremasters have the problem that they are the authority this brings ways of thinking and attitudes that are not conducive to intelligence gathering. Shario's profession brings him into contact with people who are already corrupt and he does not have to worry about his authority being compromised.

You make the day easier to pass by when times are really down.

I have a feeling they're going to know they've been infiltrated within a day or two. The page who looked at Kyvin (as a page) funny on the stairs probably knew the real newbie and new he wasn't working that night. He's going to mention it to the page master or to the newbie the next time he sees him. And when he says he wasn't there and his father backs him up, the info will go upstairs very quickly. I expect a password system or some such to be set up urgently after that and it's going to get significantly harder for Kyvin to roam around the place at night.

Well, I think that if Kyven will take a moment and think outside the box, a nice solution will come to him - Don't go as a person, go as an insect! We know he can make illusions of other things, he just was a horse and rider, so why not create an illusion of a housefly or mosquito or something like that. He doesn't have to worry about anyone challenging him, just needs to make sure he doesn't get swatted, or there will be a problem.

They already know they've been infiltrated. They piece it together the very next day, and realize that they had a spy walk literally into the office of one of the Councillors. Kyven's idea was a good one, but he didn't cover his tracks well enough.

Since you'll read about that at the very beginning of chapter 20, I had to acknowledge the cookie.

Interesting. Probably that door he touched tripped something. Unless some fur fell off Kyv (which is possible since he dragged his tail across that plate and some could get stuck in a crack) and they find it they will have to look for more than an Arcan Shaman. They would have to think of the Masked getting a mole into their organization or someone like Shario doing it or even a Loremaster that no longer believes in the cause. With out physical evidence of an Arcan they don't know who to look for.
