Best way to put it is the Shadowfox said it herself when he was in Avannar after his coupling with the Prostitute. Kyven is NOT exempt from her nature. The Shadowfox took care of the Ferrerts as Kyven asked, she took his humanity as the price, bargin complete. Anything outside of that Kyven is at the mercy of her nature including her lying to him. As to her lying to him she has done it all the time mostly from fostering false impressions in him and acts of omission. It took him awhile but he finally figured it out that she has and will continue to decieve him, because that is her nature.
And Kyven learned a new spell.
Not officially of course, but it didn’t take him long to figure out how to envision the spell to make it work, and well, the fox told him to practice, and Clover didn’t know what spells he knew…so he tried it himself. He imagined the meat drying out, all water drawn out of it, leaving it perfectly preserved, then he rather coyly beseeched the fox to grant him the power to make it happen. She responded with similar coyness, as if turning a blind eye to granting him the power to use a spell she had not taught him, and the piece of meat quickly dried to perfect preservation. Guile and deceit…she deceived him, and so he deceived her. And that seemed to please her.
And a snippet from a post by our Author on the relationship between the Shadowfox and Kyven:

As for the love interests, guess we will have to wait and see.

It shouldn't surprise you if you think about it.

His totem is a spirit of guile and deceit. To lie to them to make them drop their guard would be an eminently practical way to kill them with a minimal risk to himself. It is the perfect example of both guile and deceit in action.

That is how the shadow fox thinks, and if you didn't notice, HER way of thinking is beginning to come to dominate HIS way of thinking.

Just be careful not to equate the shadow fox to other, more benign "guiding spirits" from other stories, like the Goddess or Cybi. She will lie to him and deceive him when it suits her own purposes, and she is more than willing to be quite brutal to him when she feels it's necessary.
Also remember the running theme: There isn't always a happy ending.
The Mizriath Jihad is on hold.....for the moment

Err, prisoners or slaves, doesn't matter much, and collars will work just fine on humans i think.
Spell of silence is one thing, but if they are set to vibrate in a pocket, it wont do shit against it.
The shadow powers seems a way around any thing set to warn against shaman/crystal magic.
(hopefully)
And another thing, if kyven is returned to human, his shadow powers will go away, i think.
I dunno if the "benefit" of being human outweighs the loss of useful powers.
And all for a good looking but bitchy fem.
Miss spelling sweed in tha house! ;)
