Locked strands in Shadow Realm Chapt 10

Post by J-Man5 »

Fel,
In chapter 10 of Shadow Realm the "team" comes across multiple magical and physical barriers. Along the way they encounter locked strands that cannot be used or assesed by Tarrin or the other Weavespinners. Were these used to power the magic that created the reef and magical wind? Or was this used to anchor the Ward? Did the strands return to normal after the Firestaff was found? Did the magically dead area return to normal at that time too? What about the climatic changes if the wind was no longer blowing as hard as it was? There would no longer be a cause for the massive stationary storm that the "team" passed through.

I hate trying to reply to spoiler text. LOL.

The locked strand was used to create the magical wind that the Firestaff was hidden behind. The storm it created once the wind slowed down wasn't a planned on barrier, but was helpful none the less. It was a hell of a storm.

The reef, as it was in an area of dead magic, was most likely a creation and maintained by Aiyse, using druidic magic/creation. Remember, it healed less than 24 hours after they blew a huge f'ing hole into it.

Doubtful the locked strand was used to anchor the Ward, most likely it was anchored to the strand that the Firestaff was sitting in.

If you re-read, once the 7th Sui'kun was born, a new Conduit was created directly in the no-strand space. It ripped apart the Ward, and also ripped open the locked strand. Thus the area was magically active again.

And with the locked strand opened, the wind would die down. The storm probably took a few days to blow itself out though. You can't expect a huge hurricane level storm to stop, just because it's supply of warm/cold air decreased. It had to wear itself out. Just be thankful the water was probably cold, or you could have seen Sha'kari totally submerged once the air mass quit stopping the hurricane from moving.
