Kit is certain that his father was involved with Purists, and probably the Paladins. The tunnel would have been most useful for keeping his involvement low profile via not arriving/departing by any observed routes; a certain amount of staff awareness is likely unless he refused to serve them food nor drink during their visits; he would neither set up nor clean up, not Kitstrom Lukas Vulpan II! Someone in Purist/Paladin leadership is likely to still be aware of the passage' existence. Zach is banished from Stonebrook, but it is not permanent until Kit has resided there a set period of time; Kit's demise would set that counter back to zero and allow Zach to return. Anyone aware of the passage and with an interest in Zachary being ensconced in Stonebrook is a viable suspect. Family dynamics make Zach a natural suspect, thus anyone seeking to supplant Zach would use means that would look Zachish upon initial investigation. Anyone seeking to bring down the corporate structure which is Vulpan could take advantage of family dynamics to eliminate the top leadership by enraging Vil to where she would self-destruct, go too far in legal eyes even for Boston, by presuming Zach's guilt and acting on her grief and rage if they had succeeded in killing Kit & Jessie.

Anyone familiar with three card monty knows the stone is not under any of the cups, it is in the hand of the conman until he slips it into a cup. This does not presume Fel is familiar with Three Card Monty...

And what does any of this have to do with the price of tea in Austin? Probably nothing at all. But a lovely stream of consciousness, yes?

Methinks that stream runs on a base of clay - thus, sir, 'tis muddied.

Vil is perhaps the last person, in this world of Fel's, to self destruct.

Zach has been running for his life ever since Kit came to town - he's scared of Kit and terrified of Vil. He's doing his best to try to stay out of trouble, and he'd certainly be the last one to call in the Purists/Paladins, because he knows that stirring the pot would bring Vil's wrath down on him like a swarm of killer bees on a barking dog. (If he didn't know it before, he certainly knows it now!)

No, I think we are dealing with a totally self-centred member of the family who just doesn't care who he/she hurts as long as he/she attains revenge for the supposed slur Kit brought on the whole family (and thus the guilty party) by marrying one of those furs - meaning that he/she fully believes Jessie climbed out of the wrong side of the gene pool.
