Re: Kit - Chapter 35 - Spoilers

Post by kd7mvs » Fri Jan 09, 2009 10:47 pm

Whilst continuing with my reading of Tarrin Kael stories while awaiting the nest dosage of Kit, I came across this line
Were-cats were not waiters
Um, the imagery which started springing to mind had to be shared!

Mist waiting tables at a greasy spoon. The twins on roller skates at a drive-in diner. Tarrin as James Dean at the diner. Miranda as a concierge. Haley as, or course, maitre'd. Kimmee as the lunch counter helper you drooled over in high school.

Then I started thinking West Side Story, Were-cats and Were-wolves, and my mind started blinking out on me.

Words fail me.

So I'll fall back on the old standby,

Is it d-d-d-done yet?

I just noticed this button on the create/edit post control board, between "font colour" and "spoiler", reads "Is it done yet? Probably not, but I don't have anything better to do!, and I just have to press it to see if it does what I think it does!

Probably not.

Dunno... put up html on/off tags, isitdoneyet inside the bracket thingies, we'll see what it creates when I post this!

Funky, causes "Probably not." to appear in the posted version, according to what I see in the preview screen.

I think someone, maybe Spec, is getting punchy on us and needs another chapter...

Is Vil setting Kit up to be the head of the family. It appear all of the cousins are already deferring to Kit and even Vil seems to be asking for Permission.
So, you’re officially giving your blessing to hold the reception there?”
I wonder if Vil filed the change of Primary ownership of Stonebrook even though Kit told her not to unless Zack did not drop the Lawsuits.

Also continuity error in chapter 35. Kendall's Father does not want to participate in the wedding but is giving Vil away? Dosn't make sense to me.
"Kendall's asked for you to be his best male," she said. He offered it to his father, but his father doesn't want to participate in a Catholic wedding. Ken tried to argue for a protestant wedding."
Having Winston Brighton give her away was one way she was going to alter the ceremony.
Everyone has A photographic memory.
Some just don't have any film!

As I recollect it from the account of Kit & Jessies fly-by ceremony, part of the Catholic ceremony is Mass, Protestants have a problem with this, Best Male would participate, but handing away Vil doesn't involve participating in the religious aspects, thus Anglicans would not twig quite so much in re acting as father to give away the bride.

Don't take that as gospel, just my thoughts on why it might not be a continuity problem, I may be full of it without knowing it.

Not to a Catholic.

Annulment ~= This marriage never existed according to God.
Divorce ~= Marriage is/was valid according to God, but one or both of the parties wishes to sever ties. Most importantly (to Catholics) - it's a Sin.

Its not exactly a sin if the person then decides to stay celibate for the rest of their lives or at least until their spouse dies. It is only considered sin if they then take up with someone else because they then commit adultery if their former spouse is still alive. I don't know the rules nowadays but in the past only the pope could grant an annulment which obviously made it very difficult to get one if you were not royalty or someone of that level.

What actually happened was that George Dubya Bush saw an Iraqi maths teacher carrying a geometry set, accused him of being a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement, and charged him with possessing weapons of maths instruction.

My cynical take:

Annulment = You've payed good money to the priests to get out of a religious union.

Divorce = You've payed good money to the lawyers to get out of a civil union.

And when he says the marriage never existed with an annulment, he's correct. Just ask a friend of mine, who didn't appreciate her mother seeking an annulment; if granted, all three children were instantaneously illegitimate, as no marriage would have ever existed, and thus they would all have been born out-of-wedlock. Terry was not happy with her mother over that issue.

Usually for an anullment, there has to be grounds. This is sometimes based on bigamy (someone having more than one wife or husband at the same time), especially if one partner was previously married then divorced, since the Church does not recognise divorce.

Henry VIII tried to get annulled from Catherine of Aragon due to the fact that she was previously his brother's wife (the Bible states that you cannot marry your brother's widow), however, in order to marry her originally, their parents had obtained a Papal bull or dispensation on the grounds that the marriage between Catherine and Arthur had never been consumated. Henry later tried to get a new rulling, based on the fact that the first one was obtained under false pretences.

So, since I seem to be the resident monk here, for a suirtable donation the church, I mean me  I am sure I can find grounds for your annulment. :D

I'm more inclined to agree with our resident insane friar. That Jahal could be working for some other outside party, that probably see's the eventual merging of the Vulpan and Brighton companies as a threat to that parties possible survival against such industrial giant. Or like NSC said it could also be Cybil trying for some pay back.
I know that the voices in my head aren't real.
But they do have some damned good ideas. = ~.^ =

In a funny type of way, Cybill is having her revenge. The family is fighting amongst themselves, sometimes it seems almost to the point of self destruction.I am sure , that shes the one who's laughing now.

Consider the people who were invited to Kit's wedding, the Texas Govenor and so on. For Vil's wedding, there would be the US Secretary of Defense at least, possibly the President, plus numerous senators, congressfurs and foreign ambassadors, and possibly more senior people. When people of that caliber meet, there are lots of deals done, especially since it is out of the main view of the press. Any attack at that stage would be regarded as a terrorrist act.
Rick mused. “Vil’s a big important femme, guys, and I’m sure there’ll be like princes and billionaires fighting for spots in the cathedral. She might not have room for us.”

I would suspect that Jahal would be more likely looking for legal infractions - supose he reports Nick and the other security guards for having illegal weapons?

Also, no mention has been made of Kit being issued a concealed carry permit, so if he's carrying off-property that's a big no-no. Ditto Jessie.

From a specious perspective, the weapons are only illegal on US Soil, Vulpan Sovereign Territory is another matter entirely, right?

and, Fel...

Is it done yet? Probably not, but I don't have anything better to do! [yep, still triggers additional wordage!]
