Links to good Reading Part 2

Post by Orinks »

Hey all,

Anyone got some new links to start this one off? I've been looking around at things like Web Fiction GUide, Muses Success, etc and I just haven't found any story that's as original as Fel. It seems like everyone over at WFG likes vampires or something because that's all the editor picks are. Haven't really found anything with good action, and if I did it'd have some kind of horror demon stuff. Which, I don't mind. But there seems to be too much of that. I read Free Radical which I enjoyed but I wish it was a series, I'd love to read something longer, I like that AI stuff, Al Steiner's stuff is good, Greenies/a Perfect World/Intemperence, Aftermath etc, but he stopped writing for quite some time due to school and stuff.

I'm really into Time Travel too, read Twice Lucky and it was cool, would be nice to get more stuff like it, and that's about it. I wish Stories Online and these other sites would let you search ratings via genre so I'd know which time travel stories and whatnot are good. Thanks all. Was just wondering what everyone is currently reading since the part 2 topic seems to be a bit stail.

Hmmm... I'm not sure if this is new but on SOL look at any of Lazlo Zalezak's stories. For some action go with Hunter but I'd really suggest Thunder and Lightening or The Millionaire Next Door. http://www.storiesonline.net

Also on SOL by Dotb is Aftershock.

A good unfinished one that appears to be abandoned at chapter 30 is Comic Book Hero at http://beyondthefarhorizon.com.

Another action one that I found in progress is Once a Hero on http://stardust.us (a TG site, but the TG in this story is somewhat incidental, it's more X-men-ish).

A new X-men fanfic is up to chapter 3 The XX Factor (also TG) at http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/.

If you like those kind of stories, check out the julie-verse. Unfortunately, not all in one place or in order. Some of the places are:
http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/tg-univer ... se-julie-o
http://stardustr.us/taxonomy/term/304
http://storysite.org/a_julieo01.html
http://fictionmania.tv/searchdisplay/st ... ?word=1071

That should keep you occupied for a day or two. :D

If you like the Twice Lucky-type stories, you may want to look at http://do-over.wetpaint.com.
Glancing briefly, Downey's incomplete Rewind, Time, Once More With Feelings, The Fountain of Youth and Play it Again, Sam are all sizable and worth looking at.

I was looking for fanfiction stories set in some of my favorite science fiction settings and came across the following author http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2107286/Tel-Writing whom I highly recommend.

His main stories are "Tides of Stars" and its sequel "We All Want to Change the World" which are set in Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan universe. Those who have read the series should find it a real treat (Tel has a fantastic underlying sense of humor - Miles Vorkosigan really did split into triplets!). "We All Want to Change the World" is particularly good - I could actually imagine it as something that Bujold herself may have written (high praise that! :D ).

The other lengthy story "The Short Victorious Vor" is a cross-over fic between Honor Harrington & Miles Vorkosigan, written from Miles' perspective. It is also excellent - a great opening to set the hook, humor and some fantastic Miles moments through the middle, and a chilling ending. You wouldn't think that two universes with such disparate physics could mix, but Tel handles it wonderfully (NB to really get the story you do have to have read the Vorkosigan series up to 'Mirror Dance' and the Honor Harrington series up to 'In Enemy Hands').

Hey all,

Found a sweet Sci-Fi read that's pretty epic, called Shattered Remnants of a dream.

Found at http://danluffey.blogspot.com

The battles and overall action is pretty solid, and the writing is good too. And of course it has 127 chapters thus far, and they aren't exactly short either. Not as long as Fels, but there's some novels out there that are long but keep the chapters short.

I not sure if this author has been mention as I'm not scarnning the 10 pages of posts, but I konw the site has been mentioned several times.

Where; Storiesonline.net
Author; Vjax
Title; Dragon Clans (and its sequal)
Plot overview; Main character's life seems to fall apart in the first 2 chapters only to motivate him into a new path of discovery; including friends, lovers, enemies, and some interesting new powers.
my thoughts; The NSFW parts are tastefully done and contribute well to the story line and character development.

I have been enjoying two huge series by Geoff Wolak http://www.geoffwolak-writing.com. The first is a spy novel titled K2. It is a complete story although he has plans for a sequel. The other is a time-travel story titled Magestic. It is still in progress. Some spelling and grammar errors here and there but the stories are lots of fun.

Here are some good links and authors I have not seen here yet.....
Terrible Thom....he was on SOL but has his own site now....http://www.thomstales.net/forum/index.php...the mission stories are great.

Al Steiner over at SOL has alot of very good stories....One is the Greenie universe....and the Intemperence novels....check out Aftermath for a good read....http://storiesonline.net/auth/Al_Steiner....a lot of his stories are adult in nature but still a good read.

New books! Yay! let the nagging begin! Is it done yet? Probably not, but I don't have anything better to do! Is it done yet? Probably not, but I don't have anything better to do!...

True, I really have nothing better to do in my free time, I mean, what could be better than reading Fel's stories or being messed with by Spec? Thanks for the fun spec!

If you're a fan of Baen publishing and author John Ringo, I recommend that you check out Ringo's LFD series. Two books in the series so far Live Free or Die and the second Citadel (at present you can only get the ARC - Advance Readers Copy - available on the Baen website) of Citadel however its not far from the book that will be published in January. Both are definately a great read.

I'll definitely second the recommendation for Live Free or Die, I've seen mixed reviews of the second novel so I'll probably wait for January.

Another good Baen book I've enjoyed is the Monster Hunter International series by Larry Correia http://www.webscription.net/p-1024-mons ... ional.aspx
