This should be added right below the Baen listing...if hasn't already been added somewhere

http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/

This site has all the known Baen CD's and some you where never able to get other than at conventions or such. No need to burn, just dump each to a seperate folder, and run the start_here.html and enjoy....

Just had a thought. Given how I keep finding "new" old stuff, maybe some of my old stuff is new to someone else. I did a quick search of the topic, and couldn't find it so I hereby recommend :

The Preacher Man
by hammingbyrd7

on http://storiesonline.net/story/49108

As far as I am concerned, it's the best story on storiesonline.net.
Beautifully written sf story. I am not afraid to say I haven't read 20 books of that quality .
The author has 3 or 4 other gems. but The preacher man, is one of those stories that not only give dead tree books a bad name, but make us wanna-be-writers turn green with envy. If you are lucky enough not to have read it yet, check it out . it's definitely a tour de force.
“So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”

Hmm, one book that have always been in my favourite lists.

Enders Game by Orson Scott Card. Writing is not bad but the storylline is quite good to me.
The sea flows as long as Earth exist, Love is alive as long as people exist. I will read Fel's stories as long as my heart still beats.

I might be wrong but the correct topic for published books would be Good books sci-fi in this case:
http://forums.sennadar.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22

Enders Game was definitely a gem. though it's my feeling that he weakened the series by bowing to commercial pressure, as most of the following books are weaker and weaker. knowing when to stop is often hard. An excellent example of a character driven story.

Some more HP fanfiction:

nonjon has just completed "A Black Comedy":

Summary: Two years after defeating Voldemort, Harry falls into an alternate dimension with his godfather. Together, they embark on a new life filled with drunken debauchery, thievery, and generally antagonizing all their old family, friends, and enemies.

Very light-hearted, and doesn't take itself too seriously

If we are talking about FanficAuthors.net, I'd like to recommend checking out Master List: Completed Story Recommendations thread at associated Fanficauthors.net Forum (thanks again Meg for maintaining it!)

A couple of links:
  • Spearfish lake Tales, free mainstream books and serials online, by Wes Boyd (found via Storiesonline.net (aka SOL)). A few free books about life in small U.S. town. Very nice read.
  • Pages Unbound is a resource for authors of original web fiction and for readers looking for something to read on the web. The focus is on original long-form fiction: web novels, in other words . . . sometimes also known as web serials. If you're a reader, you can find links to interesting stories being developed for the web. If you're an author, you can add a link to your story and share in the growing audience for such work.

Another link to one of my fav. authors - Christine Morgan http://www.eskimo.com/~vecna/new_stuff.html who writes some interesting stories. Some sorta furry, some sorta monsterish, etc. Christine is also into online games and things, so she's an interesting person as well as a good writer.

Unfortunately she's going through a bit of a personal bad patch right now - since it's no secret, I can tell you that she just had a cancerous thyroid removed. I can't think of a better way to cheer her up than to try to boost her readership.

Two complete stories, one a work in progress. Very likely at least one yet to come. Be warned though, they are all very much Not Safe For Work. The first one opens up with a savage and unapologetically brutal insight into slavery. Think Kyven's treatment in Spirit Walker; only not as sanitized.

Firefox - The Great Escape meets The Color Purple
Whole story: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/518801/

Technofox - Detective/Spy story
First chapter: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/520152/

Silverfox - Jane Bond on steroids
First chapter: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1420054/

Since it's Fur Affinity, and these have an adult content rating, you'll need to be registered, set your DoB, and chose the option to view such content. I think they are also stored elsewhere. I'll update once I find them.

[edit: added DoB requirement. Thanks keysersoze]

Those links do not work, I even signed up and enable mature images but there aren't any other options.

Edit: Fixed, needed to set the birthday.

Two goodies from SoL:

Summer Can Kill by Satyricon.21
I Won A Spaceship by Connard Wellingham.

SCK is a conventional suspense type story set in Madrid while Spaceship is SciFi (d'oh!). Spceship is a two parter but he won't have the second written until late next year he figures. Still, each is excellent and more than worthwhile reads.

Some HP fanfiction by Neisseria: Rustlings in the Dark
A refreshing AU, where Harry becomes friends with Padma Patil. Features an interesting charms club as well - I always love reading about new spells!
