David Palmer also wrote a sequel, Tracking, but it's a bit hard to find.
Analog July/August, September, and October 2008 issues for the sequel, which was news to me; my family ceased subscribing to the SF magazines in the late 1990s, as Dad wasn't keeping up with them. I found the September and October issues on Amazon, but will have to keep looking for the July/August issue.
PM me your email address if you need a hand. I have done some digging to assemble it together.

Wish Palmer would just publish it as an eBook.

I've recently been reading about the history of golf and it reminded me of a story I read a while ago, probably on SOL from what I remember of it. Anyway, the boy becomes a pro golfer and eventually has back problems. It's the second book (I think) I'm interested in finding; where he sets up a golf tournament with M/F teams and some form of modified score system. Tried all the golf pun titles I can think of and I can't find the story. Anyone's memory less shot than mine?

There is a single story called "Never Up - Never In" by Richard King where you have a kid that grows up to be a pro golfer, starts a tournament with modified rules, called the "Johnny Masters Invitational" in the story where members of the LPGA caddy for the players, and develops back problems.

You might have got it confused with "A Golfers Dream by the Caddy" which is 3+ volumes
or a couple of others tales that have come to mind are also Golf related and on SOL as well.

Hello all,

I am looking for an online story I read around 2005 or 2006. It was a scifi story about a man, who finds an alien girl who looks like a spider? or had more then 2 arms.
all i remember for sure is that crystals are grown to make A.I. computers.

I think the story starts out in a cabin during winter time when he finds the alien in a cave. the main character knows martial arts

I think i read it on SOL.

Just finished re-reading Recluse and Ghost by Dual Writer (SOL- good story - still waiting for part 2 :-D) and it reminded me of a couple of others I can't remember searchable words for.

One has a similar title but is about an ex-military guy with issues (are you paranoid if the black helicopters are really after you?) who makes his money gambling and an emancipated super genius hacker he ends up living next door to. Adventure ensues including: Sniping on Disneyworld property, rescuing kidnapped girl in Mexico, and setting up a trust to help a native american tribe.

The other is about a guy who buys a very inaccessible cabin with secrets, finds people using fire trails through national forest and his land to smuggle, takes down a corrupt sheriff, gets made sheriff, buys a casino, stops a plan to take over much of the U.S. northwest. Or something like that.

Getting old is a bitch. They say the second thing to go is the memory. Now if I could just remember what the first thing to go is.....

It was about a young man sick living in an famous old gold area an he helped a girl in a storm, sick also.
They were healed and transported to a alternate earth in the western times by the gods, to help change the social ideas of that world.
Any help is appreciated Thanks
