Computer advice

Post by bigthunder »

I'm looking to get a new laptop that I can play games on as mine is 3-4 years old. What do you computer gurus think of this one?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-NA-_-NA
it's at the upper end of what I want to spend ($1000) but it looks ok to me.

A few things. One, as a gaming laptop it's going to run hot. Get an external laptop fan for it.

Two, as soon as you get it, put the recovery CD in and wipe it to get rid of the crapware on it.

Other than that, you should be good to go. Not a bad machine.

The recovery CD will just restore it to the factory image, crapware included. If you live near a Microsoft Store, you can take it, and get the crapware flushed, the OS optimized, and the system up to date. If you don't live near a Microsoft Store, if you have a copy of Windows, you can do a clean install which will remove all of the crapware and ALL added programs. You just need to make sure that you get the drivers for your system from Lenovo or component manufacturers.

Point. It's been so long since I bought a pre-built system I tend to forget the recovery CDs aren't just the OS and drivers anymore.
