You can find a book list of the current EU by looking at a copy of the Star Wars Timeline

Sadly, the current StarWars Expanded Universe has been relabeled by Disney as "StarWars Legends" and they are rebooting the EU starting with Star Wars: A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller which is the Prequel to the TV show StarWars Rebels.

Basically they are saying that the existing EU content never happened in the "Official StarWars Universe" and are setting it aside as a splinter timeline.

They did state that a large portion of the existing EU content may be worked into the official timeline to make it cannon but they would have to see how the official storyline worked out to see how they could fit it in.

I'm of two minds of this. Yay some of the existing content never happened and some of my favorite characters are still kicking! and Boo, some of the existing content never happened and some of my least favorite characters are still kicking. (potentially)

I am looking for novels online or otherwise that are similar to the Subjugation Universe and Star force series by Ayr-ki Jyr in the regards to empire building in a science fiction setting.
Star force: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6 ... Aer_ki_Jyr

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'll be interested to see other people's responses to this, as I'd like to read some of those books.

The only ones that come to mind as being close (and they aren't an exact fit) are David Weber's Mutineer's Moon series and (to a lesser extent) his Honor Harrington Series. The former fits closer than the latter, but in his Honorverse by the middle of the series there is extensive world(galaxy?) building including a lot of the analogous politics.

And in the fury of this darkest hour
I will be your light
A lifetime for this destiny
For I am Winter born
And in this moment..I will not run
It is my place to stand
We few shall carry hope
Within our bloodied hands
(bloodied hands)
And in our Dying, we're more alive-than we have ever been
I've lived for these few seconds
For I am Winter born

Silver Ships is a relatively recent entry into sci-fi empire building. Book 4 just released
http://www.amazon.com/Haraken-The-Silve ... 8591011_15

Has some elements of Subjugation, but vastly different backstory. Without giving too much away, the hero comes from New Terra, a nearly failed colony world that is struggling back to the stars. The first book's plot revolves around the hero's first contact with a derelict ship from a different colony mission that is now in danger.

Any good HFY books where humanity starts out as weaklings but then develop very quickly once they get introduced to the universes' standard technology due to ingenuity/being better than anybody else? I rather enjoyed that part of Ringo's Troy Rising series (too bad the author had to cram a lot of character views from completely irrelevant people, spend an entire book about going through hazing, and a lot of other stuff though).

He was rather spot on with the way the 3 SUD countries listed are at the top ranks... They still don't understand honor vs. duty... The top 1 or 2% still act like noble blood means anything anymore and that they're shit doesn't stink. John's quote about perfumed princes was spot on.

Too bad it was the stopping point of the series... though I heard rumor he might be back to writing on the series.

List to follow, some are listed way back in the tread, some start on Earth, others in space and some as transitional between weak to strong:

The Posleen Universe/Legacy of the Aldenata by John Ringo, first book A Hymm Before Battle (FREE BOOK) http://www.baen.com/a-hymn-before-battle.html

Starfire Series by David Weber and Steve White, Stars at War first omnibus of 2 with 3 single books following:
http://www.baen.com/categories/books-by ... white.html

The Jao Empire series by Eric Flint and J.D. Wentworth, first book The Course of Empire (FREE BOOK) http://www.baen.com/the-course-of-empire.html

The Odyessy Series by Evan Currie, first book Warrior King: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i ... ZDF6QWFNYI

That all I can think of off the top of my head. Most of the Baen Books you can get for free, and legally, by downloading the zip files from here: http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com

The Eye of the Storm CD will have all of the Posleen series except for the Eye of the Storm book (and all of Ringo's books up till that point), the Mission of Honor CD will have the entire Dahak series and most of the Starfire series as well as all of David Webers other books up until that point. The 1635 Eastern Front CD has the first 2 Jao Empire books on it as well as all of Eric Flints works up until that point.
