i have ever wondered if possible for the blood queen to be convinced to join the imperium, she did lose in a duel with the empress. SHe is working closly with them, and seeing their honour. Seen the plans to improve her boarder worlds that were conquered. as part of the imperium they could attack and take house trillane. As part of the imperium, their tech level would be boosted. Fighting side by side they will see eachother strengths and weaknesses, and how unity makes them stronger, and that they cover each other weaknesses. Also the empress is sure to give the blood queen a really good offer, when the war is dealt with for now, the imperium is gonna expand with gates and indictors, catching up small systems that want safety and those that were captured. She will need large amounts of people and ships to do so, and the blood queen is her closest independant ally with the forces and any posible inclination to do so. The B queen would likly become the top high borne house after merrane, allowed to keep the majority of her ships as her house fleet, have the other queens recognised as noble houses in their own right. THe shio prince greyhawk is likly to become part of the imperium, the represenative for their four worlds, but really apart from being the alien noble, is unlikly to be high born. The same for the colonists, while more worlds, not exactly a power house. Infact, getting the blood queen to join would likly encourage other to do so.

FOr the worlds like jobodi, moridin or zythern? offer to indict and gate their world directly to terra, so ultimate neutrality, part of a reworked confed. THese people are too much trouble to try to conquer, but this way increases the chance of them trading with them, and their trade has to gothrough her claimed space. The kimdori would love for more races to go through imperium space bcause of all their connections. LIkly in peace time, gate will be set at edges of indictered space at different ends of the imperial space, so ships dont have to go around the whole empires, also most races would use it as a short cut, to lessen travel time.

The skaa are the largest and most numerous empire apart from the imperium, likely to suffer damage and losses in the war, but with new tech, and their numbers will attempt to expand the holdings, the two skaa groups are likly to join together to stability and strength. The reason why other would not join them as the imperium carries the word of the karrine and indictors and gate protection. SO while the skaa rebuilds ands expand, they will push others into joing the imperium for safety. Ifact once the imperium has grown and expanded, it will see it as a great threat and attempt to deal with it.

The original Kerrines had outside aliances with races across the galaxy. These races don't trust the imperium, but they do trust the Kerrines. The current alliances will hold as long as Jason maintains his seat at the table. The Imperium will be one group in this alliance that will of necessity be headed by Jason, even if he REALLY detest the possition. He controls the accademy. He controls the tech. He maintains the peace. And he will Keep the coalition together. He will not take over the Imperium, but being the sudo head of the coalition will make him a leader even above the Impress, yet he will maintain his subserviunce to her. A tightrope that only he can maintain.

Hes the behind the scenes broker or the glue which hold it all together.

Your correct , the other races aren't too enamored with the Faey (and for good reason as well). The karrines are truthfully the one true neutral party , which all can adhere too and respect. In that sense , he's very much a mover and shaker in the Confederacy.Yet OTOH , hes still a house in the Imprerium and has to play that part as well.He doesn't want History to repeat its self , with the Empress/Imperium growing alarmed at the rate of his houses growth or Influence and enacting a repeat of the third civil war. That thought doesn't stray too far from his mind , his well ware of the fallacies in the faey makeup.

Jason would encourage other races to join the imperium, to promote unity, to restrict the faey power in the noble house, to lessen some of the worse qualities. they would also be more willing to listern to his house. If they realise that joining does not mean surrendering themselves to faey domination then it would be prefarable.

Other races means more view points offered in the system. The faey houses would have to deal with other races, their power shared and lessen, there still may be an empress but she would have to deal with diferening views and people to keep stable. their is great strength in unity.

Say the urumni, shi, colonists, joined the imperium, they would constitute more than a third of the empire, which would give them a strong position. So the power play game would extend to them. The shio and the colonists need house fleets for defense, why not offer it to commoners, a chance of not dealing with nobles, a chance to shine. Also with the suddern growth in the imperium, will mean a chance for faey to establish them selves out side of noble control.
WIth that empire the consortium took first, less then half the imperium will be faey, so it would simply become the imperium, and exposure to the different leaders and government, may encourage a lessening of noble rights. The jobodi, while neutral could they be convinced to join, or simply indictored.
The gates and indictors used for the skaa would be moved to seized new territory, while they have to devote forces to space defence. If the imperium grows big enough then the skaa will hav e to at least ally with them, due to their security and power.
THe alliance will have to choose to become part of the imperium or the skaa, because they tried to strike at the academy, so now suffer. The trading races would make the alliance choose the imperium, due to the trade advantage of the gates.

The fleet doing the invasion has to be carrying one of the light guys, take it out harm the leadership.

If Jason were to "incourage" any other race to join the imperium it would be as part of his house. I can't see Jason actually enjoying being a part of the imperium and I certainly can't see him incourage others to join. I can however see him incourage the coalition to continue after the war. Jason wanted the Earth (Terra) to be free and independant, but knew that put them at great risk if he didn't take them under his wing and protect them as part of his house. Jason would never throw other races to the raveges of the wolves of the galaxy. The Imperium is a cruel race and won't take outsiders in as equals. They barely tolerate Jason, because he is part Fay and he has tech that can do REAL damage if they balk too much. Plus he is the Impresses play toy.

With Jason's current status in the galaxy he has a lot of sway. Even though he is a figurehead of the coalition and technically not even a leader within it, EVERYONE knows that Jason calls the shots. He has the tech, the knowledge, and the secrets that no one would dare go against him unless they plan to destroy him completely. The coalition will trasform itself into a trading coalition and centrally protected via the coalition backed by the Kerrines. This gives Jason the peace he seeks without him having to run the day to day activities.

There is just no way any other race will actively seak to join the Imperium when they can protect themselves. The Imperium won't allow it and won't accept them as equals, and who wants to volunterily subjegate themselves to those who don't see you as an equal?

the thing is they cant protect themselves, using the threat of the consortium could force them to remain joined to gether, also the imperium is the sole source of gates, and indictors due to the karrines. otherwise they will always be open to attack, and this invasion has destabalise the entire sector and will reach many others due to the new weapons tech leaking out.

Being in the coalition will be enough to warrent Kerrine protection. Jason can make the gates himself if he needs to, and I'm sure the Impress knows that so she really isn't going to force his hand. Jason won't turn anyone down and he won't require them to subjegate themselves to the Imperium. Those who can't currently protect themselves will be able to do so or get Kerrine to do it for them. If Jason simply announces that a particular planet or people are under his protection who is going to attack them? Jason already has shown what happens when someone attacks those he protects. The Kerrines will be the peace keepers of the galaxy, not the subjegators. Everyone in the coalition has the tech that Jason has released. He certainly hasn't released it all, and he won't. This will leave everyone in the coalition on the same technilogical level, except for Kerrines who will have the technical supperiority that they now have to keep everyone else in line. Currently there is almost no difference in tech levels of the different races within the coalition. The Kerrines have always stretched beyond the Imperium and are only moderately controlled by the Imperium. And who in the Imperium really wants to challenge Kerrines? Even the Impress knows that Kerrine tech leaves theirs so far behind it's not funny. If Kerrines want to protect someone who is going to stop them?

The gates are imperium tech, the empress would never allow the outside of some kind of imperium oversight in place. So some kind of agreement is nneeded. the conquered worlds will need resources to rebuild, empress offer than assistance for them becoming a noble house similar to the terra deal, so shio and colonists are 13 world ,2 houses, that gives some power to be independant. It was once mention that the urumni were slightly xenophobic so that why little went there in terms of peole. While imperium will be damaged with gates and indctors will be simple to claim space. The faey are currently conquerers who were recently straped for food, so would love to collect more worlds. The empire conquered will be a juicy target that she cant ignore and with gates and indictors easily claimed. the thing is with such drastic expansion, she also needs extra ships so likly go to trusted allies for it. SOme of it from the ouses but to ofset their power aim at the new races. if the blood queen could be convinced in exchange for a highborn staus , some new territoy and noble rating for her queens, then man power and ship concerns would be great.

the consortium is doing object lessons, so what if they launch ships to cause great destruction but hidden so wont know till hit, in indictored worlds.

I think we will just have to agree to disagree until Fel tells us different. I can't see a non-Fey race gaining a noble status within the imperium. I can't see the Imperium giving equal status to any non-Fey. The only reason Jason was able to was he is Fey decent and of the Noble house of Kerrine. Jason has already given other races tech from the invaders which is old Kerrine technology which is the basis of all Imperium technology. Jason will pass what tech he needs to to his coalition forces to keep the peace. Who is going to stop him. He will respect the rights of the owner of the tech, but he also has his own tech that he can pass out which is similar.

There is precedent, there are noble makati houses, remember those builders, that live underground. They even have their noble houses and how they runn themselves set up to better suit makati ways.

He was forced to share the tech to allow an even fight and while he could keep karrine tech his, the imperium would go mad if he tried to keep enemy tech all to himself.

STargates are original creations of the imperium, one of their biggest advantage economicly and militarily, one of the few innovations and advanced tech. The imperium can not allow this tech to end up outside their control for anything.

Jason could build the gate but he would need imperium back up or he loses support.

If the fancy new drive is just a black-box engine connected via some fancy cables to a black-box power reactor - how easy is it to fit to other ships? With suitable levels of armour, sensor blinding, and anti-tamper mechanisms?

The other governments are happy to be dependent (and hence emasculated) as a short term emergancy measure, but that's going to change very quickly if they suspect their own ships can do the job with just a simple upgrade. And they may think this irrispective of how true it is. War makes people pull together, but it also makes them edgy, and stupid, and quick to anger if they think an 'ally' is 'cheating' them.

Only the karrines and the kimdori know of the prospective new engine, so they could keep it for themselves. karrine can jump indictors but just them so everone is happy. so this plus the new drive will give jason a great advabtage. is this ftl ussable in system. i wonder if the new engine is why they need more troops, their bugs cant take the strain of travel. WHat kind of ftl is it going to be travelling in realspace or via a different means then hyper. The communication said ftl tech, possibility it is not an engine.

With the whole sector at war, jason could arrange for every mercenary possible to be hired. they could act as a raiding or guerilla force. or they could be back up for non indictored systems. It unlikly they have many ships, more fighter, mech and ground forces. train the as fighter and support, with those not suited becoming gunnery people. Are the kimdori building more of those big bomb, because they need to go on the offensive soon, force them to increase the patrols and security at base, so fewer attacking force.

WOuld a catapult allow ships to reach deeper in the nebula.

Jason would encourage the xpansion of the imperium, so the faey would devote their resources in to developing new territories, and also encourage the faey to have more peace ful expansion later as the better option. THe sheer amount of territory that would be accessable and perfect for seizing would mean that military action would put on hold for a long time.

The fact that the faey have some where to focus their war like tendencies is good, though its not in their nature to have peaceful expansion. No one not even the kimdori or Jason himself can change that.As the people of earth and my mate Matty kelly know only too well.

Simple, shift the focus of the faey from war to competion, and achievement. The different aliens will bring systems where a faey does not need nobility to get ahead, and limit the houses. sure they would militarily expand, it doesnt mean they have to fight. there would be places where the faey would be welcommed, due to the security they bring. also jason influence will help, they seen how he upgrades systems, who wouldnt want major upgrades.

yes , that might be true but your missing a kind of fundamental point.

As per the first chapter of tribulation, it explained that the reason the Imperium was so " spy " free was the simple fact , that most species don't like having a telepathic blue skin as their next door neighbor.
yes , its true that the 'situation has changed some what , with the karrines and the war , but its a forced alliance, .it will not make them natraul freinds.

A similar event occurred in WW 2 in Australia , whilst the Australians appreciated the yanks who came , at the same time they didn't really like them too much as well. Too much of a cultural difference and all that. Even little Daracona on Terra is mostly faey as well., so that rings true as well.
