Re: Conviction Chapter 9 [Spoilers]
I would not have been surprised if the Parri got some different experience out of hyperspace travel. And in any event would not have expected the shaman to describe it in terms of hallucination (perhaps "strange visions").. If there ever was someone who could tell between a hallucination ...

Re: Conviction Chapter 9 [Spoilers]
Keep in mind that even if you know the enemy is going to attack at Point A, unless you have a force large enough to do anything about it, you are still kind of screwed. The Confederacy is already staring down the barrels of thousands of Super Ships and they have the resources of most of the Milky W...

Re: Conviction Chapter 9 [Spoilers]
Now I am thinking perhaps this new species as a whole started the sequence of wars to win their freedom; perhaps they allowed the Syndicate to dominate consortium to force them to look for new technology and edge needed to beat syndicate; So Consortium remembers the race they encountered a 1000 yea...

Re: Ideas for Inventions
I would hardly call Earth's case common since the only reason why the Trillanes lost so much money was because of Jason. Without him, the Trillanes would have been raking in the cash (the other "rebels" didn't do anything and Earth surrendered). There are plenty of stories in which humans...

Re: Ideas for Inventions
That's why I only said that the taste was replicated, not the texture, scent or anything else. After all, I'm sure that anybody would choose real strawberries over strawberry flavoured goop. If something is tasty, the way it feels or smells is unimportant. People still eat even if they have a cold ...

Re: Ideas for Inventions
- Taste Simsense Programs combined with Food Replicators so people could at least feel like they were eating something like strawberry flavored particles instead of sand flavored ones That right there would end civilization as we know it. One of the biggest limitations - if not the biggest - that d...

Re: Conviction, chatper 8
I agree. He hasn't even dropped in to say how the writing is going with all of us impatient Ivans (as opposed to nervous Nellies) going on about how long it has been. I'm fairly new to the forum, but I'm pretty sure I've seen him do that before. He just did, only not in any threads in the Chapter A...

Re: Conviction, chatper 8
Dang, I was so happy to see a new post in Chapter Announcements! And then it wasn't a surprise post of the next chapter at all! Arg!

Re: Update.
An update would be welcome... Especially since Fel hasn't been logged into the forum in over 5 days. Getting a tiny bit worried. Sounding stalkerish Kyli. Knowing the number of days since last login. Me thinks you might have thoughts of keeping Fel in a basement somewhere.. Actually, it is a user s...

Re: Update.
Pokemon time consuming is  restrain your worriesomeness you will  Wait we must all :( So you don't think he went out the house hunting some new pokemon, forgot the time and was caught outside in the middle of the night trying to fight his way home through a snowstorm. And failed t...

Re: Capturing a super ship (potential spoilers)
NO its Telepathy being able to ignore distance and time. reread the chapters in conviction and you'll find the reference Uhm, not exactly... otherwise there would be no need to put the mindstrikers into two-seat-fighters to strike at the enemy fighters. They could do so in comfort from behind the l...

Re: Capturing a super ship (potential spoilers)
I agree that the threat of the syndicate oracle is negligible in this case only, but not for the same reason. If a precog couldn’t see the unexpected, then it would not be such an awesome advantage. If you go shopping into the city, an encounter with a friend you haven't seen for a while is unexpec...

Re: Capturing a super ship (potential spoilers)
Well, the syndicate could prep the ship for self destruct in case they lose it if they actually knew that the possibility of losing the ship may be high. I doubt the syndicate would build any sort of self destruct in their biggest, most powerful ship types. In a world full of conspiracy, betrayal a...

Re: Conviction, Chapter 8 (spoilers)
I don't think I'd really worry about the other FTL systems because they are a lot slower and less efficient. I'm sure the karinnes could improve them a bit but probably not enough to make them worth it. Don't forget, those other FTL systems are either the product of some backwards civilization that...

Re: Conviction, Chapter 8 (spoilers)
I wonder what the civilization at R1XC-1493 thought of the space battle. It says their in the planetary colonization phase but that they haven't left the system. I think that description is a bit broad. Pre-subjugation earth would fit the description so they probably at least have telescopes and ma...
