Pretty sure i came in during the third or fourth of the initial Sennadar books. Not sure, it's been a long time.

You missed it, and given the amount of space given to it and the aftershock(s), you might have missed the entire chapter.

Reading the whole story again is a way to remedy that.

I get the feeling that the next chapter will be more of a 'finalizing the book' chapter, tying up some loose ends, but opening up for a sequel. I'm hoping this becomes a series. I want to see the slow integration of humans and dragons, as they adapt and learn to understand each other, and slowly gro...

Ah, perfect timing. Was just done with everything and about to start looking through archives for something to do.

That brings to mind the question "Is a raw unworked object considered a talisman?"

I kinda got the idea that there was more to be done, after the shaping. I kinda doubt just the spike, or the statue, will be enough in their current state.
