Re: Artificial intelligence story on SOL

For a 'AI' story, might try "Zeus and Io" by "Harry Carton" on SOL. It's not the one you are looking for, (which I would like to read when you find it), but it's pretty good. In fact, I think I will read it again. Now. :-) arargh http://storiesonline.net/s/71644/zeus-and-io-books...

Thanks Fel.

And, I certainly won't complain if you go ahead and write some more chapters. Waiting 2 or 3 years between chapters gets a little old after a while.

Re: Inception, chapter 13.

Thanks Fel.

I spent most of the week re-reading the entire series, kinda in preparation for this chapter, and it arrived just a little early. I was only a third of the way thru chapter 10. :)

Re: This is not my month.

ms seems to forgotten the basic rule of programming and computers: 'KISS'.

I have no intenion of ever moving past XP pro. And I still think that 98SE was the peak of all the versions - which I still use for my software work.

If someone wants to read it, there is a copy of "Castle in the Sand" on asstr in the ASSM collection.

Rest of the parts follow in 57355, 57356 ...

Re: Inception Ch8 [Spoilers]

Sorry to harp on it, but as an old time Heinlein fan I loved his idea of throwing rocks in a space battle (Used in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.) Yes, but that was in normal space. Basically a huge coil gun with guided rocks. Haven't read 'Moon' in years - maybe it's time again. :) But...

But, will the rocks STAY in hyperspace without an engine to keep them there?

There are several places were I laugh so much that I almost have trouble breathing.

. The thing is they are sure to have scanned the contents, so even if they destroy or remove the books, they may be able to preserve a copy of their contents. So may take years to eventually remove all copies, and years more to be sure that each copy was dealt with. Who knows if the books even can ...

Re: Okay, resident techheads, advice time.

Problem is, no matter where the programs are installed, if you trash the OS, odds are that you will have to reinstall everything anyway. A lot of windows programs stick a whole bunch of junk in the registry, which stays on the OS drive, and the programs won't run without them. Backing up and restori...
