Re: Retribution, chapter 7, possible ideas and theories (spoilers)

It is worth noting that even IF he had a fleet that could crush the syndicate in one blow, stealing the Oracles from the Syndicate to ensure they can't predict it and have their fleets escape would make them a very, VERY valid military target prior to a major military strike. So the fact that they s...

Re: Re: Retribution (chapter 6) - spoilers!

Oh, and another point. The Syndicate has control over at least half a galaxy. That is several magnitudes larger than Karinne. No matter how ingenious Karinne scientists are, they can never rival the Syndicate. For every single Karinne R&D project the Syndicate can put up tens of thousands of in...

Re: Re: Retribution (chapter 6) - spoilers!

Oh definitely, I wasn't suggesting that they could close the gap between Karinne and the Syndicate rapidly without direct espionage. But you do have to realize that a large part of why the Imperium couldn't catch up to Karinne's tech in those 1000 years was because they didn't know anything about mo...

Re: Re: Retribution (chapter 6) - spoilers!

Yeah, the Dark matter guns and Torsion weaponry came from taking lessons learned from Karinne Science and applying it in different ways to make superior weaponry. The consortium didn't get a lot of high level tech from the ancient Karinnes. However, as you said once you know it's possible that makes...

Re: Re: Retribution (chapter 6) - spoilers!

Are you agreeing with me, or trying to disagree? Because nothing you wrote seems to be a disagreement with my statement that the Benga will find a way around any treaty. Ah.. nope, seems we are in agreement. Isn't that wonderful? ;-) You two do know that 98% of the tech in question is fully control...

Re: Re: Retribution (chapter 6) - spoilers!

A treaty obviously won't stop the Benga from taking what they want. They are unscrupulous corporate types that will find a way to ensure that any treaty allows them enough wiggle room to justify doing what they want. But without the Oracles they will hesitate to start a war. Uh... treaties might re...

Re: Re: Retribution (chapter 6) - spoilers!

Except with the interdictors they essentially ARE in a prison already. And one that requires almost no effort to maintain. It might be more ideal to lock them onto a planet in the milky way galaxy so they can't be rescued, but leaving them behind isn't really a mistake. If anything imprisoning them ...

Re: Retribution, chapter 5, (spoilers)

I still stand by the fact that mammals are young compared to lizards. The fact that they first appeared in the Jurassic era AFTER lizards had grown into megafauna (aka Dinosaurs) proves that. It is possible that other sentient species existed prior to that supervolcano, but it's hard to say either w...

Re: Retribution, chapter 5, (spoilers)

Actually, the evidence is pretty strong to suggest that Neanderthals did not exactly die out. Rather it seems more likely that at least a portion of them actually interbred with Homo Sapiens. I mean, the average modern human has a few percent of Neanderthal DNA. For the record, the different skin co...

Re: Retribution, chapter 5, (spoilers)

Maybe. But the simple fact is that being at a technical disadvantage the why the Benga are would only exacerbate the problems of using AI. My opinion obviously, but still. As for the programming... yes you can program anything into the drone. However, the problem that you aren't seeing is that the v...

Re: Retribution, chapter 5, (spoilers)

Pretty sure they don't trust most of their slave races enough to let them fight in battle. I mean we are talking about a species that is even less trusting than humans The threat of destruction of their homeworld would surely be a very reliable threat to stop wholesale betrayel. And small group bet...

Re: Retribution, chapter 5, (spoilers)

No. Jason beat the shit out of Sha Ra because he despises her, and the way she treated his adopted daughter only amplified his outrage. He utilized the excuse of her stalling the negotiations to pick the fight. As far as I can tell, the plan IS to keep all of the Dreamers on a single planet. Undoubt...

Re: Retribution, chapter 5, (spoilers)

Most advanced tech of the benga was stolen from the consortium, which was stolen from some Karrine refugees. There is no guarantee their medical tech progressed to similar levels. WE have already cloned animals successfully! We also routinely do artificial implantation in humans to help nature alon...
