Re: Book 5 - Karis Battle
So, you'd be willing to let them scan the hell out of your interdiction generator? And you would also expect the enemy to simply send ships from all directions in large numbers at once? Who told you that the enemy would be a stupid computer AI that will keep their fleet all together no matter what?...

Re: Book 5 - Karis Battle
My point is that with a couple weeks notice you then have time to park another interdictor on the other side of that gap and suddenly the enemy is looking at a travel time a whole lot longer than a couple weeks, and without the cost of filling the entire volume to be interficted (again so long as th...

Re: Book 5 - Karis Battle
I too thought the "rumpled border" was the result you would end up with. One thing I see though is that it doesn't really matter how "thick" the field is once it is beyond some minimal amount - say a couple weeks sublight travel (so long as it is a continuous barrier). Either the...

Re: Walker of the Path - Chapter 2
Unless the Mask is much smaller than I am thinking (my impression is at least a member or two in most any town of consequence - call it around a thousand loose sympathizers who have been willing to perform at least one act that would get them killed if it were discovered by the governments of Noram)...

Walker of the Path - Chapter 2
FEL, I am a bit surprised by Toby changing back just yet, if he returns to being human wouldn't it make things that much more difficult in regard to getting Umbra [pregnant after she delivers? (Actually I had been half expecting that Toby would end up remaining arcan, (with the Shadow Fox' blessing ...

Re: Walker of the path, chapter 1 (spoilers)
I was certainly under the impression that 'monsters' that require crystals would mostly survive by finding loose crystals on the surface or by digging up relatively shallow deposits. Which is why I would expect sea monsters to be okay for awhile, those creatures have not been in competition with hum...

Re: Walker of the path, chapter 1 (spoilers)
A thought I have had, given that monster magic is not alchemical in nature (as Kyvin realized when he passed the barrier outside the Pens) I would not expect the depletion of the crystals to have much of any affect on most monster populations, even those with inherent magical abilities (like the sha...

Re: Apparent title of the next story
It is an even bigger problem if a country can't protect its rulers. And if Kyven were to get serious about it I just don't see that the kingdoms have any way to do that, beyond perhaps dispersing so that he can't get many at one time. The problem with wanting to start relations is that I just don't ...

Re: Apparent title of the next story
I would think Kyven would be far more likely to kidnap the kings than steal their jewels (unless of course those jewels are themselves powerful alchemical items, which does not seem unlikely). Seems like that would throw far more confusion into the ranks if the people in charge start disappearing (p...

Inception 3
FEL, Nice job with chapter 3, it was always plain that the Kimdori have a unique sort of social structure, the visit fleshes out those differences nicely, although I am somewhat surprised that the various native life forms are not themselves more dangerous to the unshielded Karin visitors. Also the ...

Re: Goldie (Edited)
Lightfoot was the one who was reluctant because both she and her mother were first joining babies. I don't recall Nightfall saying anything on the subject.

Re: Goldie (Edited)
I see it resulting from the fact that the sable-wulf females are closer to the source of the transformation than are other living arcans. In Nightstriker's case in particular she was about to go into heat as a natural sable-wulf and that did not change simply because she became an arcan. And while I...
