Re: Something I'm Confused about with Ebooks
Amazon... thats the reason Baen rised the prices? ...damn... Baen had reasonable prices before..I bought Monster Hunter International as monthly packet for 18$ with four new books so it come as low as 4.5$ for that book all single books were 6$ and they even had discounts for older books (like 5$ o...

Ok, so my wife decides to buy me a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, instead of the 27in monitor (2560x1440) I wanted.. :P So I decided to give the Kindle/Nook, etc a shot, first thing I go look at is some older Clive Cussler (Dirk Pitt) books, all of them are 9.99 each some of them over 10 years old are s...

Re: Baen CDs at Fifth Imperium
I will state my opinion that the un-named third party mentioned by Joe is Amazon. As a member of Baen's Bar the CD's and Baen's Webscription bundles have been speculated to be a sticking point in the negotiations between Baen and Amazon because of Amazon's price matching feature. Bean and Amazon ha...

Re: Baen CDs at Fifth Imperium
Here is a follow up: Besides the BaenCD site you also need to download/copy any files you want from the Baen Free Library since there is about to be books removed from there as per Toni Weisskopf the Publisher at Baen: When we do go live on third party platforms (and it is a when now, not an if), we...

Re: Baen CDs at Fifth Imperium
There has been a change at the site of the free Baen CDs, http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/ . The CDs are no longer available for reading online. They are still available for download. That might change in the future. Each CD is 600+ MBs, and there are 20 CDs, so that is a lot of data. There is a...

My cousin is 9, an avid reader, and utterly obsessed with My Little Pony. She knows I write as a hobby, and has asked me to write a My Little Pony story for Christmas. Not only am I not sure I'm gonna do this, I'm not sure I COULD. My writing is not usually conducive to 9 year olds. I'd slaughter t...

Re: Good Books (Scifi)
Don't know if anyone has mentioned them before, but Thomas DePrima's A Galaxy Unknown series is pretty good, so is James Doohan's Flight Engineer series. Ann Aguirre's Sirantha Jax series is very good. A new up and comer on the self-published scene is Bruce Bretthauer with his Families War series, ...

Re: For David Weber Fans
Is there someone else who thought that "All Quiet on the Western Front" is a pretty good description for "Shadow of Freedom"? (Much happens, but at the end of the day the big picture has not changed, at all.) The "you don't see a change in the "Big" picture" ...

Re: For David Weber Fans
I actually wouldn't mind him doing that Apocalypse Troll sequel he mentioned. I always wanted to know what happened next. If you think logically about it there really isn't a story to tell after that point. Remember that she came from an alternate timeline not just in the future and they actually h...

Thanks for the info. Haven't visited the Bar for over a year, looks like it's time to start lurking again. If you left because of the change to the New, New, New Bar and the way it had problems I can tell you that the New, New, New, New Bar done by Principal Technologies (Baen Author Mark Va...

Re: For David Weber Fans
from what I understand it's not a sequel to the price roger books but a prequel set during the founding of the empire. From what I heard, that was the original plan back when the last book was released but now they are planning to take up where We Few left off. For those that didn't see the exchang...
