Making sure you don't need to ask your kohai to toss your computer in the bath prior to starting your Isekai Adventure?
Priceless.

Re: Links to Good Reading (Part 2)

In regard to Kindle, bear in mind that Amazon is inconsistent in applying their Community Standards to works of fiction. They, and a couple of the other major ebook retailers, recently ditched a whole slew of English translated Japanese LNs and Manga...while still being an official provider for the ...

Re: Between Worlds for sale on Amazon based on Subjugation

Heh, Lawyers who specialize in Intellectual Property law and are worth their salt get paid a ton of salt, as it were. No matter how cut and dried it appears, someone is gonna try to quibble, to game the system. That applies to both those seeking to sidestep others' IP rights, and those attempting to...

Re: Between Worlds for sale on Amazon based on Subjugation

There's a difference between copyright and trademark. Copyright deals with "creative works" such as books, movies, music, artwork, etc. Trademarks deal with specific names and imagery in a far more focused manner than copyright. The first printing of Dungeons & Dragons included Hobbits...

Re: Links to Good Reading (Part 2)

If one is into the Isekai genre, a really good twist upon it is Everyone Else is a Returnee https://www.novelupdates.com/series/everyone-else-is-a-returnee/ . Incidentally, the link leads to a specific page at Novel Updates , which is something of a clearing house for information concerning fan tran...

Re: It's the news you never want to get.

Nothing lasts forever. All life ends; immortality does not exist in this reality. Thus, the process of dying becomes in some ways more significant than the death itself; death will occur in the end. That your mother was herself, and able to interact with others in a meaningful way for all concerned ...

Re: It's the news you never want to get.

When my sister was a senior in high school she had an evening where she had severe pain in the lower abdomen, so my folks took her in to the hospital; sis doesn't complain about things that aren't serious. The resident looked at her, saw she was small for her age (she still is), ignored all document...

Re: Update-o-rama.

Realistic. They hired someone to finish Jordan's stuff, but... When Wes Boyd ( Spearfish Lake Tales ) died, he left a number of incomplete works which he had noted as being close enough to finished that it was OK for the editing team to take them in hand and do the work needed to polish them a tad a...

Re: What are you reading currently - What Series / Authors are you actively watching?

A variety of LNs and Manga from J-Novel Club, Yen Press, Seven Seas Entertainment, etc. Plus various fan TLs of WNs/LNs at scattered web sites; a fair number at Light Novels Translations, but that's not surprising since I'm one of their volunteer editors... A fair amount of anime being watched, as w...

That reminds me somewhere around here I think I still have an original CD copy of "Pilots Gone Wild " (I think Fifer did the editing on that one) Phantom I've now discovered that there is a search function for the Forums... I'm sure it's been there all along, I only just noticed it...

Re: Updatish II.

I know a ton of folks who if asked to do something in December will look at you and say, "Not happening." If you have a bunch of relatives and friends and groups you are active in, December can be shear madness. I'd be surprised at anything before the end of the month, myself. Longer, actu...

Re: Update?

Over the last several weeks I've come to use a cane much of the time. I've had arthritis for quite a while, but had a really bad episode several weeks ago. The right knee especially. Of course, I have my bedroom and computers on the 2nd floor of my house. So I broke out the canes I'd made over the y...
