I hope you aced your finals, but I'm sure you could have gotten by with an Asus eee PC to pump out some more chapters. This gaming of which you speak seems a frivolity compared to satisfying our wanton cravings for more reading material. :D

Not to take time away from the all important and life giving writing you do, but what under the hood of that new machine?

3.2ghz dual core 3 gigs ram geforce 8800 512mb video card...and it goes back tomorrow.

I have no sound.

It says I have no audio device.

Yet all my sound drivers are installed.

I think I have a bad motherboard. :(

Did you check to see if your soundcard was turned on in the BIOS?

Other than checking the BIOS, the biggest thing is making sure the cord is plugged into the right port. I deal with computers all the time and there are times I mess up which port I plug the speakers into.

Check:
-Drivers
-Volume( is it muted?)
-Speakers( turned on? plugged in right?)
-BIOS( is the card turned on?)

I know some of them are simple. But I can't tell you how many simple mistakes appear to be huge. And all but the last are able to be checked by most. If you know someone who is familiar with computers, i.e. can check the BIOS, they can see if your card is turned on.

Oooh ... I used to support pharmacy computers (80's) and can't tell you how many times the problem was solved by "Did you push the on button on the TV screen?" or, as often, "Yes, you turned on the TV, you have to flip the big red switch on the box under the counter, too."

Fel, if you let me know what type of machine it is, of if it is a custom build, I can probably tell you how to check to see if the sound is turned on in the bios. Its what I do for a living, but at the server level now.

Gratz Fel!

Did you buy or build?
Missing chapter 14, making my way through chapter 15 and awaiting chapter 16 of Spirit Walker.
