This post by lochar is following this thread:
Super C wrote:I'm also assuming the Shaerem on the website is correct? I remember there being a debate on what a weavespinner Shaerem looked like a while back.
Fel wrote:The Shaeram on the site is more or less correct, but Tarrin's amulet isn't solid...the triangles aren't filled, and it has no color. It is all black metal, including the chain, which has largish links and looks very sturdy. The only thing filled in an amulet is the concave center star, which usually holds a tiny gem in the center (though Tarrin's amulet does not). A Weavespinner's amulet has the tines extending out from the sides of the concave star at angles, then turning up and down (depending on where it came out) to join to the triangles. The tines are symmetrical; the inner 2 attach to the corner between the top/bottom triangle and its neighbor, and the outer 2 attach to the exact center of the next triangle over, in symmetry both horizontally and vertically.
Shadowhawk wrote:Does shaeram amulet have filled background (like etched coin), or is it usually "see thru", not filled, "wireframe", openwork style? What style is Tarrin's amulet? If I remember correctly Tarrin's is made of some black metal...
Fel wrote:The shaeram is wireframe, except for the concave star.
End Moderator's Notes

wireframe, or a sturdy metal frame? Wireframe to me brings to mind very thin metal. I would more or less see it as if someone had cast the medallion from a mold, with thicker metal and the center piece a little bit deeper than the outer triangles since it can hold a gem.

Speaking of which, what type of gem would be in it? Diamond or another white gem I'm assuming? Maybe for the council a gem the color of their seat?

By wireframe design I meant design with the interior of shapes not filled. I don't know the proper word for it; English is not my native language. Here are examples I have found on the web (there should be two images, side by side):

I have thought about shaeram amulet more like etched (bas-relief) coin, with solid background and filled triangles, like (there should be two images, side by side):

I hope I made myself clear.

Edit: last image supposedly doesn't display if you wasn't visiting their web page, so I added it also as an attachement

Super C wrote:I came up with a mock up of the weavespinner sharem that I wanted to send you to verify that's what it looks like. I dunno why but I just can't figure it out from the description, so this is what I came up with. I'm getting a deviant art page soon (hopefully over the weekend) but need a host. Lochar, can I send you the pic? It might prove more convenient for me to use the FTP though.
You can use this forum and add the image as an attachement - the form is below post a reply form (if it is within Allowed Extensions and Sizes) when posting new reply or editing existing post (for example the one above), or register at Sennadar Wiki and upload image there (JPEG and PNG are preferred formats, GIF also works for sure).

You can also attach the file to PM forum message.

Well, it is something lik I imagined Shaeram amulet pendant, but from what Fel said it is without background (see through, see examples above), and probably thicker "wires". I also think that it should be make to look less like a Dawid's star...

P.S. What did you use (what program, and what tool) to create this image?

Ok, I'll try to change it so it looks less like the religious symbol (thicker wires is a good idea, I'll see what else comes to mind)

I used Solidworks 2005 w/ the photoworks plug-in to make it. If you've got any kind of CAD (computer aided design) software, I can probably export the file in a format you can use.

I dont mind. Go for it. Spread it across the web! (as long as it's not part of a virus :)

I have experience only with GIMP (for bitmap images) and XFig (for simple vector images; I also tried Inkscape and Sodipodi and Karbon14). My Weavespinner shaeram was created using MetaPost (programming language to describe vector graphics).

If the colored one is Tarrins, I don't think it's quite right. I think the black lines themselves are supposed to be the colors.

Otherwise, really good.

Shadowhawk, thats fine.

Lochar, the colored one isn’t supposed to be Tarren’s, its just styled after the one on the backup site.

Cool Hallmist. Your real challenge will be to get it into a Weavespinner amulet though, with a gem in it. ;)

Very good looking.
