Links to good webcomics...

Post by Shadowhawk »

To admins/mods: Could you please make this thread/topic sticky?

Here you have the place to put the links to good webcomics, comics you read and want to share.

I will begin with couple of links of my own:
  • Clan of the Cats --- this is urban fantasy (i.e. the story set in our world but with the magic and magic creatures) by Jamie Robertson. It begins as black-and-white but don't let this put you off. As you can see by current strips it is done in color now, quote beautifull I'd say.
  • Wandering Ones --- Tracking danger in the year 2066 A.D. Set in post-nuclear world with usual struggle against nazi-like movement. Sunday strips are usually in color. By Clint Hollingsworth.
  • Shin Kage --- this is pure SF story, set in another world. The strips are full page. Also by Clint Hollingsworth.
  • Userfriendly --- By geeks for geeks. The struggle of people in Columbia Internet against stupid tech calls, Micro$oft evil agendas etc. By Illiad.
Remember, it's

Sluggy Freelance!!!

http://www.sluggy.com/

I couldn't really give a description. Let's just say it involves a miniature lop-eared bunny with a major attitude problem and a switchblade knife!

If you're mentioning Userfriendly and Sluggy Freelance (both of which I read, though sluggy i've kinda stopped reading for ~2 years now), then you've gotta include these:

[*]Penny Arcade (Game & Tech -oriented, no real requirement to re-read the archives, though it is quite fun)

[*]Player vs Player (PVP) (Lots of history on most of the stuff)

[*]Dilbert (I should not need to introduce this. The scary thing is, I work with someone whom looks like Dilbert, and also happens to be an avid Dilbet reader.)

Not a webcomic, but something that managed to keep us occupied at work for ~2days straight (not good for work productivity levels. ESPECIALLY not right in the middle of a project).

[*] Yeti Sports

You dare try to describe Sluggy Freelance in a few lines?

INFIDEL!

Where's the vampires?  Where's the Book of E-Ville!  Where's "Shupid?"  Where's the Great Holiday War of 2003?  Where's Aylee?  Where's Oasis, again...and again...and again...and again?

And where is the single-most funny comic of ALL TIME, "Why you should never feed candy to a hyperactive ferret?"

AND WHY ISN'T RIFF CHECKING HIS NOTES!!!!!!!!
Just another guy from the shallow end of the gene pool.

I have that on a poster in my room -- from the poster competition eons ago.
Torg: "Oh. Come on!"
Riff: "No, Torg. You're not giving candy to my Ferret!"
Torg: "Why Not?"
Riff: "Why would you want to?"
Torg: "To see what happens"
Riff: {silence} "Didn't think of that. This could be COOL!."
Torg: "I'll go get the body-armor"
BTW: You forgot The Quatrix, Dimension of Pain, Muldy, Muffin the Vampire Baker, etc.

hehe :)

Here you have some comics catalogs, directories and links sites:
  • BITBOOKS - not only comics, but also stories directory. Attention: some links may lead to pay sites and it is not marked in site description. Short description + average rating (and for some 'popular' and/or 'new' mark). I recommend "Astounding Space Thrills" (old, old SF), "Latex" (superhero story, not very long), "A Little Luck" (and other stories form the same site).
  • Keenspot (and now unavaliable Keenspace) - the home of "Clan of the Cats", "Wandering Ones", "College Roomies from Hell", "Sinfest", "Alice!", "Everything Jake"... Divided into categories.
  • Electronic Universe Online Comics Directory - described as defunct. Large list of comics divided into categories.
  • OnlineComics.net - Very large (more than 2500 comics) list of comics, divided into categories/genres, with members and editors picks. In list comics are shown by title and a 'graphics' (usually small picture of main character(s)), link leads to description and then to comic web page.
  • Comixpedia Web Links - the name describes the site pretty well.
  • Keenspace Super 100, The Funny Papers Top 200, buzzComix Top 100, TopWebcomics and Top 100 Comic Strip Sites from Planet Cartoonist. Banner, short description, in/out (at Keenspace Top 100 also average rating and number of votes).

Finally! Some recognition of my true nature!

Whilst BOFH isn't a Comic: for disaffected techies, it's a must read. Start reading from the Archives for full effect. Written by a NZ'er too (nods to Greymist).

Some more Webcomics:

[*]Ozy and Millie

[*]RoadWaffles - Sick, twisted, pretty funny. Havn't read it for a while, but it's good.
