We know you can apparently jump while in a quantum state. While it is true that confederation ships can jump out of indication, but trying to jump in is denied to them. If they used both FTL system, they can jump out of a protected system, travel in hyper up to the edge of the protections, then finish their journey via FTL in real space. It would help diminish some travel time.
Does this FTL system defend against hot plasma?

Re: Conviction, Chapter 8 (spoilers)
So, here's a question. Is the main fleet at Oasis able to communicate with all the ships that they've sent into the galaxy?
Does the Karinne jammer that prevents them from communicating with Andromeda, also prevent them from communicating with their fleet in the Milky Way?
Or are their communications just delayed because they have to rely on alternate technologies now?

Something the equivalent of grav band communications could still be active, but true long distance FTL communications would be purposely jammed. The thing is they might allow their systems to continue to operate at least temporarily possibly, so to gain potential intelligence from their communications.
